Rainy Playground

It was an adventure for him, walking down a city sidewalk early in the morning, in search of a NEW playground.  The anticipation of it, the wonder, the promise of fun and play just a few blocks away, you could see it in his smile.  "where is it?" | "almost there" | "is that it?" | "no..." | "where is it?" | "almost there" | and so on, until finally... "OH BOY!!!!" 

These were shot on a recent trip Bodhi and I took to NYC to see his Uncle Jim.  He tired himself out so much that Jim carried him all the way home :)

See, Mommy?

Me: "Oh.  My.  Goodness.  WHATareYouDoing?!?!"

Bodhi: "Washing my hair, see Mommy?"

Ssshhh... They're sleeping!

Me: "Maybe you should get your watering can and water the daffodils."

Bodhi: "Ok, Mommy!"

Me: "Wow, they're thirsty aren't they."

Bodhi: "They're my baby sisters, Mommy."

Me: "Ohhh... well... you're taking such good care of them."

Bodhi: "Ssshhh... They're sleeping!"

Design to Inspire

I've tried many, many times to keep a journal, a sketchbook, something regularly visited by my imaginative firecrackers that seem to ignite and POP! at all hours of the day and night. Sadly, it's never quite worked.  I have piles of them, black covered art journals, tattered spiral notebooks, little moleskins, pretty little stationary store type things, each with it's share of sketches, letters, doodles.  I can't throw them away because I like to visit their old pages once in a while.  My latest sketchbook is my computer.  When I need a break from emails or editing I open a new page in photoshop and go to town.

Recently, I read about a contest that Typepad was running, Design to Inspire.  I played around a bit, had some fun, and submitted seven designs.  The contest ends on the 11th, so if you would like to go over and vote for me, I will be your best friend.  ;)  You can vote once per design, here are my entries...

Wedding Bells

I love Patty.  She is one of the most thoughtful people I know, and one of the most loved.  I met Sean some time after Patty and he began dating and I had a feeling he was a good guy.  And as time passed, I knew he was.  They have been together for so long, that when we all heard they were engaged, I think most of our friends responded with a collective "Finally!".  Both Patty and Sean are from huge Irish families and their wedding was nothing short of magical.  Here are my favorite shots I managed to capture between my happy tears...

April Fool? Not I!

Wheeew.  I made it through another April Fools day without anyone setting me up, playing jokes, or telling tales.  I am far too cynical for today!  I am also suspicious, since I didn't want to post a blog today for fear of people not believing me!  Strange, I know, I never said I wasn't weird!  So, here I am, a few minutes shy of April 2nd to write to you, my faithful blog readers. 

I ran across a couple of great pranks on the internet, the first being You Tube who linked all the videos on their front page to Rick Astley.  Hilarious!  I have to admit, I've watched it a couple times today! 

The second was Custom Time by Gmail.  I'm sure tons of people read it and jumped out of their office chairs in pure delight.  There's no disclaimer on the page, but like I said, I'm far to cynical...

So, I wanna know... anyone get you today?  Leave me a comment about it, you Fool! ;)

Bodhi: "Mommy, it's raining, I NEEEEEED my raincoat."

Me: "Ok, Bodhi, if you say so."

Bodhi: "I say so, Mommy."

Human Calendar

My amazing friend Kelly at CommunityAMP is a genius at finding inspiring stuff on the web and sent this site earlier today.  Behold... The Human Calendar! 

This is way cool, so check it out.  I absolutely love when people come up with ideas that make me smile and lean in close to my computer screen (magazine, book, etc.).  Click on the calendar at their site to read the "about" page, a quick explanation of how the calendar was born.  There's also instructions for imbeding a mini version into your site. 

It took me a minute to realize, perhaps since it's been more than 4 hours since a cup of coffee, that the images shift day by day.  I can't wait to look at it tomorrow :)

Spring is here!

After having a pretty bad week, it was truly an Easter treat to wake up to such amazing, beautiful weather.  This Easter morning was really fun for me as it was the first Easter that my son was old enough to get excited about the Easter Bunny.  We dyed eggs last night and he searched for them this morning.  I was pretty impressed that he found them all and my heart melted each time his grin lit up with pride at his find.  He is currently bouncing off the walls from jelly-bean-sugar-rush, but it's all worth it.  We're off to Aunt Mary's for tea and then Grandma and Grandpa's for dinner.  I hope you all enjoy your Sunday and this awesome spring weather that will hopefully stick around! 

The very first daffodils are coming up all around the yard, can't wait to see the full blooms :)
